Fort Hill: Home of John C. Calhoun and Thomas Green Clemson
Thursday, February 2 • 9:30am–3:00pm
Cost: $30 (transportation, display, and lunch)
Fort Hill was the home of John C. Calhoun, South Carolina's pre-eminent 19th century statesman, from 1828 until his death in 1850. The antebellum plantation home, office and kitchen are furnished with family artifacts. It was through a succession of Calhoun-Clemson women that Fort Hill came into Thomas Clemson's possession. He willed that Fort Hill "shall always be open for the inspection of visitors."
Following our tour, we will have lunch at one of Clemson's oldest and finest dining spots, "Pixie and Bills."
