COMMON THREAD MEN'S MINISTRY

"… As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another…" Proverbs 27:17

The First Presbyterian Church Men’s Ministry falls under the title of "Common Thread" with the idea being that while men's lives are very busy with family work, and activities, we all share one common thread: to grow in love and likeness to Jesus Christ.

VISION:
The "Common Thread" that unites us all is Jesus Christ and our desire to grow in our knowledge and practice of His disciplines, so that His love and His grace are most prevalent in our homes.

MISSION:
As disciples of Jesus Christ we desire to grow by studying Jesus Christ…to be held accountable by other Christ-like men…to be pruned so that we are becoming the men God wants us to be…so we are able to lead our families as God intends.

GROWTH AND TRAINING:
Common Thread offers events to stimulate growth and training including

  • Promise Keeper events
  • Weekend Seminars
  • Banquets and Festivals
  • Wednesday Advantage Classes

Common Thread offers small groups to teach and answer questions, and for accountablity. Common Thread will offer opportunities for fun and fellowship to build common bonds among men of the Church and their families.

GOAL:
Our goal is to point men toward Jesus so that we are better equipped and trained to be the spiritual leaders of our families.

Men's Fraternity
Looking for a class on Wednesday
evenings? Consider meeting with men at 6:15pm in Room 301 every Wednesday for what we call the Men’s Fraternity. This group of 20 to 25 men is studying a video series by Robert Lewis on the theme “Winning at Home and at Work.” Lewis unfolds a game plan in 18 lessons that cover everything
from “What Men Need to Know About Women” to “Launching a Lifelong Winning Streak.” Once a month the group goes out for dinner together and has a great time just talking and getting to know each other.

The class begins in September and lasts until April of 2011. Leaders are Eddie Lathan, Russell Guest, Brian Young, and Bob Jones.

Contact Bob Jones at 672.0349
