Our vision is for the presence of God to ignite a movement of worship in us so infectious that it brings others with us into His presence. Responding in public worship is often where change begins; the change of a deepening personal relationship with God. Our weekly gatherings spark new spiritual relationships while refueling ones already established.
The content of our gatherings spans from the most time-tested to the most current expressions of worship. Music from classic hymns to current worship songs will be lead by our worship band, the sacraments will be celebrated in ways that are at times ancient other times modern, and truthful applications of God’s Word will be boldly taught.
Come, ignite, and join the movement.
HOW TO PREPARE
What is Worship? Worship is the quickening of the conscience by the holiness of God, the feeding of the mind by the truth of God, the purging of the imagination by the beauty of God, the opening of the heart to the love of God, and the devotion of the will to the purpose of God.William Temple
How you can prepare for Sunday:
Be prayed up- Seek the voice of God by constantly communicating with Him through prayer and by spending time in the scriptures during the week
Be prepped- You can prepare for the music by going to the “Songs We Do" page and getting familiar with music that we will be using in worship that Sunday and Sundays past.
Be punctual- We start promptly at 9:40, and strongly desire for youto experience the Worship Service in its entirety. With so much coming and going that occurs in our church a Sunday morning, we would recommend that you consider arriving to church 15 minutes early so you can come into worship without feeling rushed and also to account for any issues you might have with parking or navigating your way around the church.
Songs We Sing One of our values is for us to be a congregation that sings joyfully and unashamedly in worship. Something that helps achieve this value is by having a congregation that is familiar with the songs we sing in worship. We have provided a list of our most recent songs used in worship, in hopes that you can prepare for worship by listening to and becoming familiar with these songs. Our hope is that it will allow you more freedom to worship through song in Spirit and truth when we gather together on Sunday mornings.

GET INVOLVED
Thank you for your interest in serving in the Contemporary Worship Ministry at First Pres and for your desire to lead our church in worship in spirit and in truth. To start the process, you must be a believer in Jesus Christ. Make certain, before you even start the process, that God is your joy and that you are satisfied in Him alone. If He is not, and the outcome isn't what you expect, bitterness, anger, jealousy and/or pride will fill you. We do not want that. In fact, we want the opposite. We want to edify you, give you constructive criticism and connect you where the Lord leads.
Things You Should Know
You must be a believer in Jesus Christ
Preference for openings in the worship ministry will be given to active members of First Pres
You must be able to take honest feedback during your initial meeting with our staff.
We need faithful players and singers who will be willing to play at least once a month.
We only have a certain amount of positions open in each ministry.
Though we will place you in a certain ministry, it doesn't guarantee you will stay in that ministry. It is up to that ministry leader to decide whether you are capable and trustworthy enough to serve in that specific role. If they take you out of the rotation, please return the next time we have auditions.
What is Our Goal?
Our goal and vision is to grow the hearts, minds, and actions of people into a deeper relationship with Christ by exuding and inspiring a lifestyle of worship in Spirit and in truth.
What Are the Roles of the Worship Team?
Child of God (Ephesians 5:1)
Minister to People (Philippians 2:3)
Lifestyle of worship (Romans 12:1)
What Characteristics Should We Have?
Humility (Romans 12:3; Colossians 3:12)
Non-distracting Excellence — We seek to pray, sing, play and proclaim God's Word in such a way that people's attention would be drawn toward the majesty of God (2 Timothy 4:2).
Exuberant Joy- (Psalm 100)
Authenticity — We communicate from the heart and the mind, not only from the mouth (John 4:23).
Integrity- we strive to adhere to the biblical standards of leadership (1 Timothy 3:1-7)
Biblical Soundness — We will study and know God's Word so that we may be able to worship in spirit and in truth (2 Timothy 2:15).
