| The Pastor Nominating Committee
(“PNC”) was constituted by the
congregation in April 2007.
This committee’s duty shall be
to nominate a minister to the congregation
for election as Pastor. Public notice
of the time, place, and purpose of the
meeting shall be given at least ten days
in advance, which shall include two successive
Sundays. G-14.0502, The Book of Order:

Members of the committee, nominated and
elected to be representative of the entire
congregation, are Chuck Simmons, Beverly Brown, Carol Black, Carolyn Heaps, Heather Tapp, Kitty Young, Mack Ward, Ken Nickles, Nancy Caudel, and Robert Lewis.
The steps taken by the PNC include the review of our current Mission Study
(a descriptive self-assessment) that was
approvaled by the Session; the
preparation of a “Church Information
Form” (a standardized and abbreviated
format of the Mission Study) and its approval
by the Session and by Presbytery’s
Committee on Ministry;focus group meetings for appropriate age groups for input that was incorporated into the job description; the solicitation
of nominations from members of the congregation
and from church leaders nationwide; a
candidate review process; visits to prospective
pastors in their own church settings;
interviews and meetings with one or more
finalists in Greenville; and, finally,
the nomination of the candidate and the
terms of call to the congregation for
its approval.
Although the meetings of the Committee
are closed in order to protect the confidentiality
of possible nominees, comments and suggestions
from members of the congregation are welcome
at any time.
