At First Presbyterian
Church, we desire for worship to be at the heart
of everything we do as a community of faith.
Worship is an encounter with the living Holy
God. It isn't simply a scheduled meeting
or a religious activity.
Come, let us bow down
in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our
Maker; for he is our God and we are the people
of his pasture, the flock under his care. Psalm
95:6
Traditional Worship
8:15am and 11:00am in the Sanctuary
Our 8:15am and 11:00am Sunday morning services
are traditional in nature and usually identical
in format. The Word of God is preached with
passion and relevancy, the sacraments of Baptism
and Communion are regularly celebrated, and
God is glorified through the gifts of music.
Our morning worship seeks to reverently glorify
God, while joyfully expressing the contagious
excitement of being part of the family of God.
During the summer, one of our associate pastors normally preaches
at these services. Music is typically led by
our magnificent pipe organ or on the piano,
with the Chancel Choir helping God's people
to worship. The morning services are dynamic
as the powerful presence of Jesus Christ is
evident.
Contemporary Worship
at 9:40am in Fellowship
Hall
The contemporary service fosters a sense of worship and interaction with God with music and worship offered in a more relaxed atmosphere.
A team of vocalists and instrumentalists leads the congregation in a time of praise and worship; various forms of media are used to help reach the needs of our culture; the sacraments of Communion and Baptism are celebrated regularly, and God’s Word is taught by one of the associate pastors. Please join us and invite your friends to experience God’s love at this service.
Current Sermon Series:
For Such a Time as This
The Story of Esther
In an incredible story of rags to riches, plain to beautiful, weak to strong, we read of an unknown young woman
whose godly attributes of dignity, wisdom, and strength overcome the plans and plotting which sought to wipe
out an entire race of people. So reads the story of Esther. The book is a fascinating read that has been
loved by Bible readers for centuries, yet it does not mention God. No obvious miracles take place.
No angelic appearances are recorded and there is no mention of a messiah to come.
Yet as we study this book, we will discover once again the wonder of the invincibility of God’s grace.
The hidden hand of God is clearly at work and lives are transformed at the unfolding of His eternal plans
and purposes. Join us as we look at the life of this remarkable woman whose charm and elegance,
restraint and self-control, modesty and transparency impact those around her and an entire nation.
Clearly, she was born “for such a time as this.”
