At First Presbyterian
Church, we desire for worship to be at the heart
of everything we do as a community of faith.
Worship is an encounter with the living Holy
God. It isn't simply a scheduled meeting
or a religious activity.
Come, let us bow down
in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our
Maker; for he is our God and we are the people
of his pasture, the flock under his care. Psalm
95:6
Traditional Worship at 8:30am and 11:00am in the Sanctuary
Our 8:30am and 11:00am Sunday morning services
are traditional in nature and usually identical
in format. The Word of God is preached with
passion and relevancy, the sacraments of Baptism
and Communion are regularly celebrated, and
God is glorified through the gifts of music.
Our morning worship seeks to reverently glorify
God, while joyfully expressing the contagious
excitement of being part of the family of God.
During the summer, one of our associate pastors normally preaches
at these services. Music is typically led by
our magnificent pipe organ or on the piano,
with the Chancel Choir helping God's people
to worship. The morning services are dynamic
as the powerful presence of Jesus Christ is
evident.
Contemporary Worship at 11:00am in Fellowship
Hall
The contemporary service fosters a sense of worship and interaction with God with music and worship offered in a more relaxed atmosphere. Donut holes and coffee are served before the service, which begins at 11:00am each Sunday morning in Fellowship Hall. A team of vocalists and instrumentalists leads the congregation in a time of praise and worship; various forms of media are used to help reach the needs of our culture; the sacraments of Communion and Baptism are celebrated regularly, and God’s Word is taught by one of the associate pastors. Please join us and invite your friends to experience God’s love at this service.
Thoughts from our members about the contemporary service:
Our family first started attending the contemporary service spurred by the interest of our growing children and we were captured by the spirit of the service, as well as the passion of the worship that takes place each Sunday… —Life-long Member
As an active elder in (my former church in) Connecticut who was Superintendent of Sunday Schools and responsible for youth programs, I was disappointed that we (our former church) didn’t touch the young members as well as we should have. The contemporary service does that, and it has brought (my daughter) to the church. —New Member
The contemporary service feels like a family. I love to come because everyone greets with you with loving hearts – God is so visible. The Unity that fills that room is overwhelming – age is no factor…You feel welcome and in the very presence of the Lord. —Youth
One thing I have experienced with the worship service itself is how personal it feels when the minister delivers the sermon not from behind a pulpit, but from within reach of the congregation assembled. It’s hard to miss the message when it is delivered “up close and personal.” The same closeness is felt in the prayers and in the reading of scripture and I find myself actively engaged in all aspects of worship. —Elder
