Sunday Education

The Children’s Ministry is comprised of three smaller parts: Nursery Care, Early Childhood, and Elementary. Nursery Care is provided for children up to two years of age. Early Childhood serves children from age two until they enter elementary school. Elementary serves children from first grade through fifth grade. Once children enter the sixth grade, they pass from Children’s Ministry into the Junior High Ministry.

More About Sunday Education

Wednesday Evenings

First Presbyterian has opportunities for Christian education available for all ages on Wednesday evenings. Wednesday Advantage offers classes that explore a particular topic over several class meetings. Grouped by age or school grade, classes welcome both members and visitors.

All children in grades 1-5 (both choir and Bible study children) may participate in the weekly Lunch Buddy drawing, in which the child whose name is drawn receives a visit from a member of our Children’s Ministry Team during lunchtime at school, cookies for the entire class, and a special gift.
For more information, contact Karen King at or 672.1840.

The Children’s Ministry Team is in search of two college students to serve as summer interns. A heart for children’s ministry and a good work ethic are necessary. An interest in pursuing a ministry career would be an even bigger plus. Download and fill out the application and return to the church in care of Children's Ministry Director, Tina Jones.

Vacation Bible School and Day Missions

Vacation Bible School is an awesome, memorable week where kids will discover they are lovingly crafted by God. This year VBS will be held in the EVENING, Sunday through Thursday, June 25-29 from 6:00-8:00pm. Our theme is "Maker Fun Factory." Kids will learn Bible truths during large group worship and then travel  from station to station in small groups with their leaders as they engage in hands-on adventure. Vacation Bible School is for children age rising K5–rising 4th grade. Register online by clicking HERE.

DAY MISSIONS give students an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those in our local community. During the four days of Vacation Bible School, we will serve 300+ children, elderly, and special needs folks around Greenville - Monday through Thursday, June 26-29 (Mornings: 9:00am–12:00pm). Day Missions is for students in rising 5th–12th grades. Register online by clicking HERE.

"Route 56" Fifth Grade Transition

GOING and… “Growing in the knowledge of God”
Fifth graders! Come join our fun events on Route 56, the road from 5th to 6th Grade. We will be going and growing in the knowledge of God as we fellowship, study, and go out in our community to share the love of Christ. Look for the special Route 56 logo in your mailbox, email, and GrapeVine newsletter so you won’t miss out on any of our exciting “road trips.”

Our local service projects/missions and time spent with God give our 5th graders an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ to our church family and our community. Seasonal parties include our annual Christmas ‘Regressive’ dinner in December and several other fellowship opportunities in the fall and spring. Summer events include the Junior High Youth in order to build relationships with our 6th-8th grade Youth before moving up to Junior High in late August. Join us on our trip along “Route 56”!
