Focus of Group: Jobs for Life is a transformational ministry designed to equip men who are getting back up on their feet to find and keep a job. This 25-year-old program has transformed the lives of over 45,000 people and their families. The FPC Men’s Ministry is partnering with Miracle Hill’s Greenville Rescue Mission to bring the program to Mission guests. Jobs for Life is a Christ-centered discipleship program with the motto “Uplifting humanity through the dignity of work—one city, one community, one life at a time.”
Description of Group: We typically look to have 10-15 volunteers on our team to run a class, depending on the number of students. Each student gets a champion/mentor. In this critical role, the mentor is called to walk alongside, encourage, and pray for their student. Additionally, the mentor will offer support to students in areas such as homework completion, resume writing, and interview skills. No prior experience is necessary for this role, as there is ample support available in the workbooks. The key element for the mentor is to have a willingness, desire, and commitment to serve. It is expected that a mentor may have to miss one or two classes throughout the program, but it is essential to attend the majority of them. In addition to this champion/mentor role, we also pray that business leaders and/or Human Resource leaders will volunteer to serve as guest speakers, support panel discussions on what businesses look for in employees, and provide assistance with interview practice.
