The Children’s Ministry is comprised of three smaller parts: Nursery Care, Early Childhood, and Elementary. Nursery Care is provided for children up to two years of age. Early Childhood serves children from age two until they enter elementary school. Elementary serves children from first grade through fifth grade. Once children enter the sixth grade, they pass from Children’s Ministry into the Junior High Ministry.
More About Sunday Education
While the adults and youth are attending either the 10:45am Ignite service or the 11:00am Traditional service, children ages 2-2nd grade may attend (all or a portion of) Kids Church. Kids Church is a rotation teaching module packed with age-appropriate Bible points. Stations include: music, games, interactive story time, and crafts.
Kindergarteners, 1st and 2nd graders participate in Kids Church during the sermon portion of worship and attend the rest of the service with their family. Little ones ages 2, 3 and 4, may remain in Kids Church from 10:30am-12:10pm while their family attends church OR they may participate in both the worship service and Kids Church. Drop off is located on the lower level of the Red Brick building. Please click the brochure link below for more details.

Special Needs Ministry
This ministry exists to come alongside families of children who have special needs. We desire for these children and their families to be able to grow in their faith by hearing the Word of God and worshiping with the Body of Christ. Each child's needs are unique, so each situation is handles individually. We can provide a one-on-one buddy to help the child more easily get involved on Sunday mornings and help the parents feel comfortable in leaving their child while they attend Sunday Life Group or worship. If you have a child with special needs and would like assistance on Sunday mornings, please contact Tina Jones to discuss how we can best assist your family (call 565.0921 or email email@example.com
). You may also fill out the Special Needs Care form and bring it with you.
Foster and Adoption Ministry
James wrote, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: take care of orphans and widows in their affliction, and keep oneself unstained from the world” (James 1:27). Whether you are trying to start a family, have already adopted, or feel called to follow through on this mandate in one way or another, we have a place for you. Some opportunities include:
helping with childcare at the annual Foster Family Celebration each October,
assisting widows with handyman-type chores,
becoming a foster parent,
offering respite to foster families for an evening or a weekend,
offering rides to medical appointments,
training to become a child advocate,
tutoring a foster child, and
becoming a mentor to a foster child.
A foster and adoption support group for women meets every other Wednesday night 6:15-7:15 in Room 403. This group is for anyone who is considering fostering or adoption as well as those seasoned veterans. A once a month gathering for these families occurs one Friday night per month.

“Route 56” Fifth Grade Transition
GOING and… “Growing in the knowledge of God”
Fifth graders! Come join our fun events on Route 56, the road from 5th to 6th Grade. We will be going and growing in the knowledge of God as we fellowship, study, and go out in our community to share the love of Christ. Look for the special Route 56 logo in your mailbox, email, and GrapeVine newsletter so you won’t miss out on any of our exciting “road trips.”
Our local service projects/missions and time spent with God give our 5th graders an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ to our church family and our community. Seasonal parties include our annual ‘Regressive’ dinner in January and several other fellowship opportunities in the fall and spring. Summer events include the Junior High Youth in order to build relationships with our 6th-8th grade Youth before moving up to Junior High in late August. Join us on our trip along “Route 56”!
For more information, contact Karen King at email@example.com or 565.0936.
VBS and Family on Mission
This summer we will have “Backyard VBS” July 20-24, not at our church, but in your home or backyard. You will pick up needed supplies in a fun, drive-through on Tuesday, July 14, 10:00am–12:00pm in the church parking lot. This version of VBS provides a great outreach opportunity for families to invite a cousin or friend to their backyard to join in!
If you’d like a T-shirt for your participant, you must register by June 29. We’d love families to upload photos of their backyard crew wearing the T-shirts to our social media that week. We will keep registration open through July 9 for those who cannot register earlier. Let’s turn the lemons of COVID 19 into lemonade by holding Vacation Bible School in our neighborhoods!
JULY IS FAMILY ON MISSION MONTH!
Join us for a month of creative family serving during July! We are seeking families who are willing to do yard work, paint a fence, provide meals, run errands, etc., for some of our own FPC homebound residents, widows, and elderly that we serve through Compassion Connection.
Families may go as a group and even consider bringing cousins or meeting another family to serve together. Serving one time or multiple times (commitment is totally up to you), your family would provide the labor and possibly prayers for a person or family who needs a little assistance.
To serve or suggest a recipient, contact Karen King (email firstname.lastname@example.org or call/text 864.884.9824).
